Food Factory Outlets in Singapore

On any given Saturday there will be a whole bunch of car lining the street of Woodlands Terrace at Woodlands East Industrial Estate. Why? Because this whole street is lined with Factory Outlets selling none other than my favourite thing....food :) One of them is an awesome factory by the name of Fassler. It's a factory selling smoked salmon, frozen fresh salmon, frozen soups, frozen unagi, frozen tobikko (flying fish roe), etc. at prices much lower than the supermarkets. 3 packs of Salmon Tails (boneless, skinless - 4 pieces) for $10, and offcuts of smoked salmon in little packets - 5 for $1!! Try their lobster bisque, it's quite nice and tasted exactly like the one I had at a hotel (which made me think the hotel got it frm them!). They also have fresh salmon sashimi.

Right next door there's a shop that sells yummy gourmet sausages in 1kg packs. For comparison, this shop sells a kg of one of the sausages for $20, at the supermarket, the same sausage is sold for $29 a kg. The Italian Sausage was nice, had a spiciness to it. The chorizo was nice too, but not the Spanish style chorizo that I thought it was supposed to be. They also sell vacuum packed lasagna which they say they supply to Pasta Mania and they also have vacuum packed pre-marinated rack of pork ribs that only goes for $15!! I was a little apprehensive to try it at first, but glad we did cos it was really good - amazingly tender!

Other shops there selling sauces, frozen fried cihcken, some Taiwanese dumplings, Vietnamese Spring Rolls, smoked duck, etc. If you go there, just remember to bring cash...and lots of it! :) Most of the shops only accept Cash. And also bring a cold bag as most of the things sold are frozen and if you're going to Fassler, be warned, their stuff is inside a walk in freezer, so bring a jacket or make sure you don one of their Ferrari jackets that they have hanging outside for customers to borrow.
Can't wait for my freezer to empty so I can go back to restock again!
Oh and if you're a fan of Polar Puffs pastries, there's a Polar Puff factory down there where you can buy curry puffs or mushroom and chicken puffs for $0.60 each (shop sells them for $1.80each).
