A La Carte Buffet Lunch at The Seafood International Market & Restaurant

If the name of this restaurant sounds familiar to you then it's probably because you've been to the same restaurant in Bangkok. Comparing the two restaurants, the one in Bangkok was much bigger and more famous since it's been featured on several travel programmes including Anthony Bourdain's no reservation. The concept is fun and unique (for the one in Bangkok). Once you get inside you go shopping for your seafood as if you would at a supermarket. You then 'check out' at the register and tell them how you want it cooked. Prices are touristy but I reckon it's worth checking out when you're in Bangkok.

The one in Singapore has the seafood live in tanks and a fridge for the veges. The one in Singapore is at East Coast at the Big Splash and offers a lunch time a-la-carte buffet at $22.80++ weekdays and $24.80++ weekends.

Basically the food was great! There were items like Sharks Fin soup,Drunken Prawns, Baby Abalone, Braised Sea Cucumbers, Sauteed Scallops, Crispy Soft Shell Crab, etc that is given as one serving only. Meaning you can't keep reordering it. But there were also some good dishes that we could order again and again like Salad Prawns, Seafood Tom Yum Soup, Assorted Dim Sum, Crabmeat Fried Rice, Roasted Duck with Hot Sesame & Garlic Sauce, and more. Plus an assortment of fruits and Thai desserts like the sweet tapioca.

We really enjoyed the meal and would definitely recommend it to other ppl. Best thing is to go with a big group so you can try more dishes.

Their website http://www.lobster.com.sg has a flier with a pictorial menu.
