We took our visiting friend for lunch here last week. The food was good and the service was good too.

Mellben Seafood Restaurant at Ang Mo Kio

My friends from overseas came back to Singapore for a short visit and we all had a get together dinner at Mellben Seafood Restaurant at Blk 232 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3. This place is famous for their Crab Bee Hoon soup. The Bee Hoon soups is delicious, it consists of a milky soup base with hints of curry leaves, melted better, thick bee hoon (rice vermicelli) and of course cracked crab.

Along with this, we also had a sweet and sour fish dish, crab cooked in butter sauce which was delish, crab cooked in pepper salt, prawns cooked in salted egg (yum yum), kangkong belachan, and a tofu claypot dish for the kids (all 7 of them)

This place is definitely a great alternative to eating seafood down at East Coast and is a great gem in the middle of the HDB heartlands. Great food great company! Miss you guys already A and J! And thanks for the dinner Y & YF!

Angels and Demons the movie

Saw Angels and Demons recently. It was a great book to read and the movie is also a good watch. It'd been so long since I read the book that I actually forgot what happened and who the killer was...hehehe. So it was enjoyable sitting there trying to figure out/remember who the bad guy was.

So if you haven't seen the movie or read the book, I would definitely recommend them both!

Eating at Thai Express on actual Birthday

We ate at Thai Express on our actual birthday (mine and Edmund's bday) cos we had a $15 voucher. I like the food there even if it is a little over priced - especially the drinks. Because we had a membership card, at the end of the meal they gave us a bottle of wine. It's made in France but the weird thing is there's no year on it. Weird right??

Chiang Mai Mango Salad with Coconut and Grilled Chicken. This was quite nice. A nice change to the normal sour mango salad.

Salted Egg Fried Rice. Very yummy!

Green Thai Laksa...this was a bit of a disappointment, it was basically green curry with thick beehoon. It was nice, very spicy, but not what we thought it would be for a laksa.

Seafood Pad Thai. One of my favourite. I never get sick of it. Caelyn also loves it too. We ordered it for her and she finished pretty much 3/4 of the plate. Now days we have to order something just for her cos if we had to share our portion with her too we wouldn't be full.

Twilight the Movie vs Twilight the Book

I guess I was a bit late on catching onto the Twilight craze. I really hadn't heard about the book till the movie came out. And when it was in the cinema I'd also missed it cos I heard that it wasn't very good or should I say not as good as the book. So I bought the books after a friend also mentioned she enjoyed the books too. Luckily I was able to catch the movie on the plane back to Singapore and it intrigued me more - eventho i was pretty distracted with Caelyn on the plane while watching it.
I finished reading the book in a week and I can see why it's become such a popular novel - especially amongst teenage girls. I mean who can resist a story of passion, infinite and forbidden love even if it was a little mushy at time. I really did get quite caught up in the main characters of the book, Bella and Edward, you could almost feel the surge of emotions between them coming out of the paper.
I think it helped to have watched the movie first before the book because it helped with the visual of the characters. But as far as the movie itself goes, I think people were right, the book is better. The movie is a little bit disconnected and the chemistry between Edward and Bella isn't as easily felt. It's also made out to be more 'dark' than the book I think. And unfortunately as with most books that make it to movies they don't stay entirely true to the original - things added in, things taken out. The stars of the show are quite suited to the roles they play thankfully. Thumbs up to the casting director for finding an Edward that was a real hottie....hehehe. ::p
