Korea Trip June 2013 Day 6 - Everland Resort, Jump live performance

With Hong Thai 9 Day All In Korea Deluxe package

Day 6
Today's wake up call was at 8am. This late wake up and slow morning gave us a false sense of the day because it was going to be THE most tiring day of the whole tour! Breakfast was at the restaurant across from the hotel. I've noticed that most of the hotel breakfasts here serve pretty similar stuff. No pics of this place though....

We then drove 2 hours towards Everland Resort. Halfway we had a rest stop at the side of the freeway. There was a lot of food for sale there...half of which I didn't know what they were. But it sure looked appetising. I bought this steamed corn....which I didn't like much....it was the glutenous kind. It was bland as anything and felt sick when you eat too much of it.

Today's lunch is at our own expense, the tour guide asked us if we wanted him to arrange a BBQ lunch for us to save us the trouble of ordering food etc. My advise is to skip it. The restaurant they brought us to is just near Everland Resort and was a touristy restaurant. The food was alright, but if you head straight to the park, you'll get longer time to enjoy the park on your own. And there is plenty of food there, I don't think ordering food would be a problem. For our tour group, everyone except one family of 2 adults and 2 kids decided not to go for the arranged lunch. So the tour guide sent them to the park first and then came back to join us for lunch. Downstairs from the restaurant there was a gift shop. This is actually a great place to shop for souvenirs for your relatives and friends. Prices are reasonable.

Once lunch was finished, we headed to Everland, from the carpark, we still had to take a shuttle bus. And the bus was so packed. Was really not expecting that. And I thought that once we were in the park we'd all separate. But the tour guide was actually leading us.....ummm..not too fun and waste of time. The first thing he did was bring us to the flower garden! The only good thing with sticking with the guide was he somehow managed to tip the attendants at the Safari World and managed to get us through the side entrance bypassing a 40 minute line and get us a private vehicle. This is one attraction that's worth seeing here. We weren't given very long there, only 2.5 hours :( So we missed out a lot of rides. But at the same time I guess got on more than we expected to go on.

The Liner....a cross of Lion and Tiger
After Everland we went to an early dinner of Korean Bak Kut Teh (pork rib soup). I thought this was quite nice. But definitely a tourist restaurant where they churn out dozens of servings of the same food to all these tourist groups. The servers weren't even Koreans, they were China people.

So this wasn't the end of our day. After this we headed over to see the JUMP show. It was a Korean martial arts comedy show that didn't have any dialogue. The kids enjoyed it. I just thought it was a bit corny. They're also showing it in Singapore right now too (different cast). Before the show we had a little while to walk around and check out the surroundings, there are shops and some pretty canals around.

This is pretty

AND this is still isn't the end of our day! We were so exhausted by this stage. It was like 9pm+. They then took us to Dongdaemun market to 'shop' at 10.30pm! Even us young'ens were tired, I couldn't imagine all the older people in our group. I didn't even have the mood to shop...just wanted to crash on a bed till morning. So by the time we finally arrived at our hotel it was 11.45pm!!! And the worst thing was we stayed at the Intercontinenatl Hotel Coex and this was THE nicest hotel we stayed in in Korea. There's supposed to be a big shopping centre near the hotel/connected to the hotel...too bad we didn't get a chance to even see it.
